Mr.Deepak Kumar from Stock Market Institute, delivered a invited lecture on "Investment & Portfolio Management" on Aug, 08, 2012 at 2.30 PM. He started the session on myths and reality in the stock market, he pointed out the first requirement of precondition to invest in the stock market is interest and awareness and not the qualification and age, he stated that Mr.Warren Buffet the world's richest man started his business at the age of 9 and felt it was too late, after evincing the interest among the students he explained the basics and knowledge required for handling safe investmentsthat consists different high risk.
He stressed upon how time is involved in decision making for fruitful investments as well as handling of secondary market, he also explained about NSE and BSE and it's index preparation. Students raised the questions on various short term and long term trading and risks associated with them and he replied that in addition to that theoretical explanation, practical experience alone to large extent give them maturity in the trading, however he cautioned even the experienced persons make mistakes leading to short term loss which is not permanent feature. Students were happy and were thankful to the department for organizing such a lecture.
