     On  25-08-2012 – Our faculty member, Mr. Sunil M. Kulkarni, and five of our MBA students, viz. Ms. Chaitra, Ms. Lavanya Murthy, Ms. Indu, Ms. Navya & Ms. Divya Vijayan attended and presented research papers at the National Conference on ‘Retail Sector in India – Opportunities & Challenges’, conducted by the Department of Studies & Research in Commerce, in association with Centre for e-Commerce & Communication and Centre for Project Management, at Tumkur Univerrsity, Tumkur.

A talk on 'Mind & Attitude' by Mr.H.A.Jayasimha

   On 25-08-2012 – Mr. H.A. Jayasimha, a legend in Personality Development Training, who has conducted more than 8500 programmes on personality development & motivation, addressed our students  at the Seminar Hall, DKM Block between 11-00 AM – 1.00 PM., through Magic show and dealt with ‘Mind & Attitude’.

He opened the session with a demonstration to make people aware of the difference between listening and hearing. He spoke about Positive thinking and the benefits one gets from it, and also stressed upon RAPID reading which is a tool for success in this competitive environment. He stressed upon the research findings about the values and ethics, which play a crucial role in success; he said keeping cool, calm and relaxing will increase one’s capacity to think. 

He said people should know about the difference between ‘need & want’ and then restrict wants.  He spoke about fear and demonstrated swallowing fire - a technique to overcome fear of fire. He said belief has a lot of power which can bring in success. He concluded the session with a note on the contributions of our Indian ARMY and asked everyone to consider army jawans as real Heroes.

17-08-12 – MBA Financial Management specialisation students presented Financial data  in the class about BSE, NSE & Bullion market, under the guidance of Prof. Muralidhar Reddy -  a daily activity. 

17-08-12 – MBA students made a Business news analysis about companies that cut pack size of their products (weight) in order to avoid price hikes; they also made a presentation about mutual funds, under the guidance of Prof. Muralidhar Reddy - another daily activity.

 17-08-12 – HR specialization students Presented different organization charts, under the guidance of Prof. Sunil M Kulkarni.

17-08-12 – Marketing specialisation Students deciphered information from the internet and displayed details of top 10 profitable companies in the world, under the guidance of Prof. Sheshu.

18-08-12 – Under the guidance of Dr. AnanathaPadmanabhan, the students displayed a list of high ranking companies and Eminent personalities in India; thus, they created awareness among their classmates about various companies and the associated industry personalities.

21.08.2012: Mr. Rishabh & Mr. Pradeep Paul, representing Stock Market Institute, Bangalore, addressed our Finance specialization students and proposed a six months & one year course on Stock Market.

21-08-12 – Students displayed Company profile of Maruthi Suzuki Ltd. On the notice board, under the guidance of Prof. Sheshu.

21-08-12 – Students carried out Business news analysis on Government reforms, easing flying norms for different airlines and marketing strategies of FMCG companies. 

22-08-12 – Students displayed Company profile of Mahindra & Mahindra on the notice board, under the guidance of Prof. Sheshu.  

22/08/2012 Mr.Karthick, MBA HR Specialization student collected and presented organizational chart of BILKENT UNIVERSITY, UNAM, under the guidance of Prof.Sunil M Kulkarni.

23-08-2012 – Students carried out Business news analysis on Brilliant tutorials changing hands, Adani SEZ under Govt. scanner, and gold price fluctuations. 

23-08-2012 – MBA students, viz. Mr. Rakesh and Mr. Krishna Presented details of evolution and growth of MTR foods, under the guidance of Prof.Raymond Swamy.

 23-08-2012 - MBA students, viz. Ms. Lavanya Murthy and Ms. Indu of III semester screened a short documentary on the social evils that are prevailing around us and tried to motivate the students to be conscious about them.  Dr. AnanthaPadmanabhan concluded the session with an appeal to repay the society in some possible way. This session was organized under the guidance of Prof. Y. Muralidhar Reddy.

23-08-12 – Students displayed Company profile of IBM & WIPRO on the notice board under the guidance of Prof. Sheshu.

23-08-2012 – Mr. Vijay Kumar, Marketing head, BIMAL Auto agency, Bangalore, along with his team members, addressed our students on a concept ‘Young manager’ which will allow students to work in the premises of Bimal Auto Agency, on part time basis and also explained placement scope in Maruthi Suzuki for our students.  

24-08-2012 – Students displayed details of top 10 companies in the world by market capitalization, under the guidance of Prof. Sheshu.

25-08-12 – Under the guidance of Prof. Sheshu, Students displayed Company profile of ICICI Bank Ltd.

Activities in the department of Management

6-08-12 -  Students have started NEWS review presentation which will be a daily affair.

6-08-12 -  Financial review was started by finance students, which will happen on daily basis.

8-08-12 -  Prof. Muralidhar Reddy conducted a session on "Goal setting".

A session on Paradigm shift by Mr.Muralidharan CO - Founder & Chief Mentor GPVSS

A session on Paradigm shift was conducted by Mr.Muralidharan, Co - Founder & Chief Mentor GPVSS, on 14-08-2012, at Seminar hall, DKM Block. He has used all the experience that he has gained in various positions across different industry verticals to impress the students about their readiness to face the Industry. 

 He started the session with a picture asking them to identify their first reflection and what is been identified there, he also examined the ability of the person in using right brain and left brain with various techniques and pictures, further he explained how every student have to understand the details as well as how to going into finer sophistication involved as well as how to meticulously use them in career development as well as business decisions.

 He concluded the session with a explaining the process of decision making as well as their accuracy in reaching their goals. In this he gave the idea of how to understand and use six sigma rule that can be taken up as value added course to all the MBA students.

Guest lecture by Mr.Venkatachalan, GM-HR, Akshaya Pathra Foundation

As part of Industry Academia Interface Department of Management organized a lecture by Mr.Venkatachalan, GM-HR, Akshaya patra foundation, ISKCON, who shared his experience with students on the topic "trends in Human Resources" on 11-08-12 at Seminar Hall, DKM Block.

    He started with a note on the organizational structure, production and management of effective distributional process of Akshaya patra programme.  He explained the success story of Akshaya patra and highlighted that their recruitment and training process never stops with the position for which the candidates were selected. The executives are exposed to all the job levels in the organization before they settle in their actual role. All the employees are given a special training on values, ethics and morals, so that during their stay they will become part of akshaya patra rather than just employees. So he mentioned for any success story of the organizations small and minute aspects of each and every activity of the concern should be given utmost importance so that errors are eliminated.

All the faculties and students were impressed with his lecture as there was a take away for every one of them and thanked the organizer Dr.Krishna for the same.

Guest Lecture by Mr.Deepak Kumar

Mr.Deepak Kumar from Stock Market Institute, delivered a invited lecture on "Investment & Portfolio Management" on Aug, 08, 2012 at 2.30 PM. He started the session on myths and reality in the stock market, he pointed out the first requirement of precondition to invest in the stock market is interest and awareness and not the qualification and age, he stated that Mr.Warren Buffet the world's richest man started his business at the age of 9 and felt it was too late, after evincing the  interest among the students  he explained the basics and knowledge required for handling safe investmentsthat consists different high risk.

     He stressed upon how time is involved in decision making for fruitful investments as well as handling of secondary market, he also explained about NSE and BSE and it's index preparation. Students raised the questions on various short term and long term trading and risks associated with them and he replied that in addition to that theoretical explanation, practical experience alone to large extent give them maturity in the trading, however he cautioned even the experienced persons make mistakes leading to short term loss which is not permanent feature. Students were happy and were thankful to the department  for organizing such a lecture.

Guest Lecture By Dr. K.Ravichandran

Dr. Ravichandran, Assistant Professor, School of Management, New York Institute of Technology, CERT Technology Park, Al Muror Road, Abu Dhabi  addressed MBA students  on "Emerging Issues in the Management in the Liberalised Era" on 07/08/2012 at 10.00 am in the Seminar Hall, DKM Block, Citech, Bangalore.
  

               He opened the session with a interesting note on current issues in academics and how placements are affected by various global problems from US crisis to Euro crisis. He emphasized on Education industry's problems  like increase in number of colleges, lack of quality,etc., and also enlightened students on  education abroad and how the foreign universities are trying to lure and attract our students and the problems faced by our students there. He emphasized on various corporate requirements in students and finally concluded that India is the best Education Hub among all the countries and availability of jobs is also significant here.
             Later he addressed all the faculty members and emphasized the need of research by academicians and gave them certain tips on writing and publishing research article in reputed Journals. He concluded the session by stating "publish or perish". It was a wonderful opportunity to all the students and faculty members to interact with him. Dr.Ananthapadmanabhan, Dr.R.Krishna and Prof.Gopalakrishna were instrumental in organizing this session.
